Review by Anne Lehman
“If I had planned my life, it never would have ended up like this. So maybe it’s kind of fun not to plan. Maybe it’s more fun just to see where life takes you. After all, we’re living proof that sometimes even the messiest stuff and the biggest mistakes can take you someplace wonderful…And now we’re living a dream. We found our way to this place we love through all sorts of twists and turns and bumps and forks in the road. But we’re here.” Joanna Gaines
I really enjoyed reading The Magnolia Story and diving deeper into the lives of the HGTV couple I’ve grown to love so much. I’m not huge on biography-type books or reading nonfiction but this couple is so charming and so REAL so I just had to know what their roots were and how they got to where they are. If anything this book made me fall even more in love with them and their story. Like I said, I wouldn’t call this literature or an authorial memoir, but a book filled with reflections and a good story about good people who worked hard, loved and believed in one another and with great faith and perseverance, have managed to not only build up their dream but also build up many, many others as well.
Their story and this book is hopeful and filled with love and life and joy despite the obstacles, but it is as real as real can be.
P.s. Come in and check out the book at the library! We have DVD's of Fixer Upper here too!
